Another update. This time I have three figures from Imperial Assault. First up, the Rebel Saboteurs.

Not the worst figure, but did we really need two of these? Not my best paint job either, but I did paint the Rebellion Firebrid symbol on the shoulder, just like the art shows. I mean, why wouldn't you want to advertise that you're part of the rebellion when your job is to sneak into places so you can plant explosives and break stuff?

Here is the Brilliant Engineer figure from the Twin Shadows expansion, Saska Teft.

I really like this figure. It's a pretty straight forward sculpt that looks good with a quick paint job. I did myself no favors by taking such a close pictures. I swear that eye doesn't look that bad in real life.

Now back to the putty mines. I have figures to make.

Nice paint jobs on all of them how does painting the IA figures compare to painting the WOTC figures?

Nice painting. The close-ups are fine (big as when we hold them up while painting, so can appreciate the effort).

Thank you kidterminal and von Lucky.

Painting the Imperial Assault figures is so much easier then re-painting the WOTC stuff. Mostly because you don't have to strip the original paint or spray over the original paint and hope it doesn't come out too tacky. And of course there's the bendy plastic issues. The Imperial Assault figures do bend and the mold lines can be tricky at times, but it's nothing compared with most of the WOTC figures. While I seriously wish FFG would give us metal figures, or even hard plastic, this plastic is much better then WOTC bendy plastic, or Mantic, or most of the other cheap plastics. You can scrape the mold lines on IA figures. I don't do it too much, but it's nice to have the option.

The big benefit of the WOTC stuff is the price and the number of available sculpts. It's hard to beat a collection of miniatures that were released in the hundreds over the course of years. I'd love to see FFG cover all the different droids from Star Wars, but unless they can find a way to make each figure change the way the game plays, they just won't be making the figures. Hell, it's taking them to the third expansion to release Princess Leia. I somehow can't see them making the bartender of the Mos Eisley cantina or Cloud City Guards, or Luke in something other then his farm boy dudes.

The WOTC sculpts are hear to stay because of the variety which is my main issue with the FFG figure line. I haven't had any trouble stripping the WOTC figures, I've found it easy.

Actually there is supposedly another Luke coming soon, just like X-Wing, Imperial Assault is supposedly getting a Force Awakens thing soon that will probably have the older versions of the classic heroes along with the new ones.

This is great news for me. I'm getting every single figure from Imperial Assault, so more variety is always a good thing. I just hope they make some of the Star Wars Rebels characters as well. They are releasing the Ghost and the Imperial Assault Cruiser from that show for X-Wing, so they must have some respect for it.

Quick update. I finally finished the second humanoid sculpt, and here he is. I present Jaxxon the Lepi.

The gun isn't great but it works for now. I was really surprised how difficult getting the ears smooth was. There's a loop of thin wire inside each ear that's pinned into the head. (It was weird drilling two holes into the miniature's head for some reason. It might have been the spirals of green stuff that came out of those holes.) Let me know what you think.

I never saw the weekly series so I don't know this character but the proportions look right. The gun could use a barrel.

I think that it was on Beasts of War, though it may have been elsewhere shortly after the leak of the coming set that's basically a clone of the starter set, but with the Episode 7 X-Wing and TIE's, Fantasy Flight said they were working on other sets for all parts of the Star Wars line to take advantage of the movie.

Thank you uti long smile, kidterminal, SotF and rumacara. I love the old Star Wars comics. The early ones are kinda silly, but once you get to the post Empire Strikes Back stuff they rock. The Tarkin story is one of my favorite Star Wars stories of any medium.

kidterminal, I did end up adding a barrel to the gun, as well as a couple extra details. Not sure when I'll get Jaxxon painted. I've been sculpting. And I just got a Playstation 4 with Destiny. For some reason I haven't felt like working on minis lately.

Quick update. I sculpted another figure recently. It's a simple human figure without any equipment or clothing.

He's an experiment to see if I could make something more realistic. I didn't want to hide my mistakes with alien heads or bulky clothes. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement. Oh, and it's my first time working with mixed Fimo over Green Stuff, just like Tom Mason does it in his videos.

Let me know what you think. I really would like some honest feedback on this.

Top half is good, bottom half has legs the same thickness all the way down and no butt. Easy enough to fix.

Face is pretty good.

The proportions are good which is the hardest part to get right.
