Great points- a remote (or cable release) is going to produce even better clarity.

I use the timer on mine. You know, the one that allows you to run around and get in the picture (mind you, I swear I am not actually IN any of my pics... lol)

I am "paycheck to paycheck" now in this LPL. That's what I call it when I have no cushion...I'm painting this coming round this week.  :'(

How late can this 'Murican turn in the next round on this Friday, GMT?  lol  I am going to be struggling to get all the steps done -- finishing the painting, sealing, basing, flocking, and so forth. On the bright side, when I began my Round 6, I was paralleling my Round 7. So, they have flesh and first color done.

These are the times that try LPLers souls...  ;D

That's the, in the long run, unappealing part of the LPL and the reason I didn't participate this time.

Mike, I'm flexible on timings within reason :)
A few people have been a bit late over the last couple of rounds.
I ask for the teams to all be in by the end of Friday (UK time) so that I can organise and upload all the pictures and set up all the matches on Saturday, ready to roll on Sunday.
So some time on Saturday daytime is really the latest. Bear in mind that in your part of the States, I think you're 6 or 7 hours behind us here in the UK.

Seems like I'm always 'paycheck to paycheck' by round 5. I always bite off more than I should chew during the three week grace period between initial entries and round 4  o_o

Well, with the horde of ladies you painted up for this last round, my friend... lol

I consider myself extravagant when I paint eight 28mm figs!  lol

Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. Thanks, Cap'n, for the grace period. I'll be out of town on Saturday at a convention, so it has to be by Friday.

Still hard at work at round 7, finished the first mini for that yesterday, but still don't know what to do about round 8 and 9, have some idea about round 10 but need to check if I really have all the parts I need for that  ;D Had a good head start but went away on vacation for a week last week so that didn't help ;)

actually had a good idea for round 8, dug out the minis from the leadpile, took a close look and burried them again, way to fiddly, I didn't even want to try assembling them let alone paint them on a deadline  ;)

I love reading the progress reports on here painters, thanks to everyone who posts them!

I myself have been languishing on rounds nine and ten... I have become obsessively particular about details and highlights and I found myself blending a shield for an hour and a half... a shield that I will mostly cover up with a design anyway! Blending isn't as easy as I'd like it to be on large flat surfaces :/ That being said, I have four of the six figures done for round ten, and about 0.75 figures done for round nine.

I am also struggling to find time to photograph rounds seven and eight! It's always such a time-intensive process...

Good luck everyone, may your brushes fly like lightning and your lighting conditions be favorable!

thanks

I have rounds 7-10 looking at me with sad reproach.. They are all started apart from Big brother who need some sculpting and is bare naked.

But I finished 4 groups that were on the table for years unfinished so the original goal of LPL is working.

What is taksing me is fight with camera for interesting looking and showing photos. That feeling when you learn for 3 hours about bracketing and then realising best photo was made on auto setting anyway.. o_o

I have been watching this tournament for the last few years and it seems to me that, whilst the winners have always been spectacular, the strength in deapth of the field improves year on year. It is a real visual treat to see the entries each week. So congrats to everyone and keep up the good work.

I did get my Round 6 completed, photographed, and submitted -- after three days in a row of being up till after midnight! I like how it turned out, but no resting on my laurels in LPL! I am away at a convention all day today, and then I am setting up for a playtest of a different convention game Sunday. Yikes... :o

I have been taking many, many shots of each set up, so I thought I'd share some of the behind-the-scenes images.

Here's my set up for my first entry - Skythians! You can see that the image was taken on my desk using some scenery I had. I did fix up the detailing a bit though with some extra grass, bushes, etc. I also added grass tufts just temporarily. I plan to use those tufts throughout to help make the scenes a bit more realistic and to obscure the bases a bit.

The hill in the background is the ubiquitous GW hill, along with some Woodland Scenics trees. I have three lights on the scene, and some older DBA camps and army elements to add to the background.

I'll post more images as things progress!

Thanks

Neldoreth - I just loved your 15mm "Skythians on the hunt!" entry in Round 1 and you most definitely got my vote despite the phenomenal opposition from Lt Hazel.  Not just because they were absolutely lovely, well photographed and extremely well painted or because I have a massive soft spot for Skythians but because they were all that AND 15mm.  That standard of painting in 15mm is in my view far more difficult because of the smaller scale and hence of more worth of praise that the similar standard in 28mm.

One thought - I'd like to see a compulsory 15mm round in LPL just to sort out the men from the boys....just my 2p!
