Really like the commissar, went to order him but $15 flat rate shipping means he'd be $19!

Really nice painting.

I picked up a few other figures at the same time, so the shipping cost was spread out over a number of figures.  A GW Commissar is pricey enough anyway and they are usually in dynamic (or simply daft) poses, so I got a kick out of painting a less familiar Commissar model in what I think is a better pose, so it was worth it to me :)

Really nice painting.

Thanks.  I have wanted to paint a Commissar since 1989, so it was good to finally get around to it :)

Nice additions to the crew. I really like like both models. The girl would make me think the army would be some kind of militia commisioned by some nutcase. Lovely.

Great stuff, but isn't a Gyrinx supposed to be red  ;)

...and...

On another note Black Cat Bases is actually make a cat that looks very much like the GW Gyrinx

And so I painted up another space cat yesterday:

More on my blog.

Here it is alongside an astropath that I painted last year (details on blog) that I may have posted up already - I cant remember - but he fits in here too so I might as well.

Lovely stuff! Let me know how the games go too.

Thanks.  I will record the 7TV games played and let you know, but it will be a few months I reckon.

Thanks aggro84.  I enjoy using miniatures from a variety of sources with differing sculpting styles.  It helps to keep my interest up while painting and minor style and scale discrepancies disappear on the tabletop by and large.

Jokaero or an Inquisitor next.  Probably.

Speaking of sourcing, is that Astropath you painted last year a GW miniature or is he from somewhere else?
I like him a lot, he looks great!
Lovely painting!

Thanks for the feedback guys :)

As dijit said, the astropath figure is GW.  The current GW astropath is part of the Imperial Guard line, but I think that the guy shown here was released as part of the Witch Hunters or Daemonhunters codices about a decade ago and is OOP I think.  I still think of it as a pretty "new" miniature, but it isnt really.  I got that one in a lot on Ebay a few years ago.

Black Cat bases make a number of 28mm cats.  There is a Halloween one, a Xmas one, a pirate one (with a hat) and about four regular cats at least.  MegaMinis closed down on the first of June as far as I know, so you might be too late to pick their cat range up...

Yes you're right, wow, that really is old, but like you I still think of it as fairly new!
