Suggestions for lamp posts????
« on: 22 January 2015, 12:19:50 AM »
I've been looking around but am struggling to find 28mm lamp posts. Quite a while back I passed by a site which did some nice modern MDF ones but I can't find it again for all I try  >:(!!! I know Black Cat Bases and Armorcast have some, but they look Victorian to me and I'm after more modern "double lighted ones".

I will have to look later tonight after work. Do a search for Demo's Laser Cut Designs, I know he had some modern lamps also. Are you more interested in MDF or Metal?

If you want cheap plastics, there is the common Spider-Man from Secret Invasion.

Or, the LE that was sent in bulk to a lot of stores, and really wasn't all the great. (In other words, you should be able to pick it up cheap)
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Try O Gauge model railway stuff on ebay, I've seen modern lighting on there from several Chinese sellers. Some of the Hostile/OO stuff meant for highways might also be suitable for 28mm pedestrian columns.

Am I the only one who finds the posing on this model disturbing?

Funny you should say that, I have just asked to order the Filling Station from there, saw some lamp posts in other pictures but not in the catalogue??? I have popped a query over to him though. Cheers for the tip mate.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm quite happy with MDF/ plastics but will buy metal ones if they "look right". Preferably in modern highway lighting fixture style.

What about modifying LEMAX Christmas decorations?

They produce lamps (slightly over scale, but the do work).

Weird, he must have updated his site.

Demos do some, but shipping outside the US is a pain.

C&C do some nice "Steampunk" ones that are actually very Victorian, so suitable for my Melbourne-esque table.

I have a bunch from JTT Microscale. http://www.jttmicroscale.com/viewcategory.asp?DirID=96 My problem with the 1/48 scale ones might be that they're *too* big, at 6" tall or so. I'm just not sure if the next size down would work.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. But as Styx recommended, I've been in touch with Demo Lasercut and they do indeed carry a line of lamp posts for 28mm gaming. Single x10 $11 or Double x10 $13, I added a pack of singles to my order of the Filling Station  :D and that was no problem to do.
