So it is time for a new project.

After seeing some beautiful examples of Old West towns on this forum I really wanted one for myself. So I did the following:

I bought some Black Scorpion miniatures at Crisis.
I printed the following rules to give them a try: A Fistfull of lead and Blackwater Gulch.
I bought some buildings from Sarissa.

The plan is to make a small skirmish table (2 by 2) over the following weeks (or months :D).

Well all this said and done here are some photo's of the early beginnings of the town called Hickory Flat and the soon to be inhabitants.

The Town

The Law, Civilians and the Outlaw

The Counters

The Rules

Step one will be tomorrow, then I am going to play-test the rules with a good friend.

I am intending to keep you all updated over the next few weeks with the progress being made.

Regards,
Za

This should be interesting. The buildings internist me greatly.
I have been giving a lot of thought recently to doing a weird west game using strange Aeons rules ( or LOTOW... Undecided) mainly because there are so many great minis out there for the old west. Those black scorpion outlaws are cracking. I'm quite jealous of your box of goodies.

The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Aahhhh, the birth of a town.   I love the look of these laser cut buildings, kind of wish they were about before I started building my own town!

I doubt you' stop at 2'x2', no one ever does.........

Hi all,

I will start this weekend with the first building(s). I must say that they are well packed and smell very good. they are worth the money IMHO.

Nice stuff, are they all Black Scorpion minis?

Yes, they are all Black Scorpion minis. They are nicely detailed but I am still not sure how to clean the mold lines. I bought a cardboard nail file at the local drugstore. These have a very fine grain and hopefully this will work.

Thanx, we are going to try them tomorrow. Reading through the rules it looks very straightforward, easy and most importantly fun. I'll let you know how things went on.

Za

As a fellow Black Scorpion/Sarissa owner...I applaud you sir!  I'm actually about to place an order for the rest of the Black Scorpion line (I have most of them).

I'm a bit sad they went to resin though.  I love my metals.   Looking forward to seeing your progress!

(PS: I also want to see your water tower completed, as I may buy one...or build my own)

Well yes the water tower. Disaster struck yesterday. When putting it together I used to much force and it literally disintegrated into peaces (beyond repair I am affright  >:( :(). Not sure yet what to do but I can tell you it is fragile... Lets just hope this isn't how the rest of the project is going. I probably going to order a new one someday.

Just played the first game of "A Fistful of Lead".
* Easy gameplay.
* No discussion about the rules.
* A good quick reference sheet.
* A first game played in an hour.
* And most importantly, a lot of fun.

Now onto building and painting a town.

Keep you posted,

Za
