Impressive.
Thank you. :)

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 73.

Another monument decorated with trophies, votive offerings and candles is the Hive City Grim Reaper Statue from Kromlech.

The numerous bits are mostly from GW, and the resin tombstones are a Mini Monsters product.

I recommend the All-in-One Modulart Art Box – Ultra from KRYDRUFI, review HERE, shop LINK, discount code QUIDAM.

Great stuff! And helpful to see it in an unpainted state. That's going to be a fiddly job.

Something tells me that all the statues and minis are forms of procrastinating from having to paint the boards!

I always seem to find building stuff is much more easy to motivate yourself to do than start painting stuff.  Once you start it is OK and you get into it but taking that surge into actually doing it never feels quite so appealing.

Thanks for your comments.

I don't start painting if the models are not ready for painting yet. In addition to the monuments, I still have to finish the interior, make rubble and many other details.

Only when everything is ready will I start painting.

This is not a quick project. :)

Was Mordheim supposed to look so vampire-ish, with all those skulls and bones everywhere?  Or were those meant to have been added by cultists after the comet hit?

Thanks,

Dan

Quote
The city of Mordheim was founded by the Knights of the Order of the Crow thousands of years ago.

In the Imperial year 1999 there was a sighting of a great comet in the sky, a Twin Tailed Comet, the sign of Sigmar. Many astronomers predicted the return of Sigmar, and that he would arrive in Mordheim. Massive amounts of people from all corners of the Empire started to travel towards Mordheim, filling the city far beyond its capacity. The morals of the city quickly degenerated into almost nothing, everyone was living a hedonistic life in anarchy, and as more and more people arrived in Mordheim the situation only got worse and worse. When this happened, the seeds of chaos and corruption started to spread among the new citizens of Mordheim, and it wasn't long until daemons walked the streets.

It happened on New Year's Eve, the comet fell, but it was not the return of Sigmar as predicted. The comet smashed into the city, instantly turning it to rubble and brutally killing everyone who had gathered in and around it.
People speculated that Sigmar had passed his judgement on the people living in the city, killing them for their unworth.

After this event, the place of Mordheim became a place of great fear and paranoia. Word spread about a mysterious stone that was located in the city, known as the Wyrdstone. Many factions of the world would pay a gigantic sum of money in return for the stone. Many warbands began travelling to Mordheim, recently dubbed The City of the Damned, with hopes to find the precious stone.

In 2302 IC, Emperor Magnus the Pious led a mighty Imperial army to the city and burnt its cursed ruins to the ground after his victory over the forces of Chaos.

So yeah; it began with a moribund state of mind to begin with. Got corrupted even before the comet shard struck, drew in even more evil elements due to the wyrdstone now spread all over the city and finally got razed by religious fanatics on a powertrip. Skulls and sinister embellishments have pretty much been the norm since the city was founded, and one can only assume they got more plenty over time, given the nature of the place...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Deothar

Thank you very much!!!  On this subject I’m a complete newbie who has recently developed an interest in Mordheim, particularly the esthetics and terrain.

I also found the rules online, and that will be next on my to do list.

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 74.

Hive City Saint Statue from Kromlech is one of the tallest statues that will be on the table.

Like the other monuments, I also decorated this Saint Statue with various bits and candles made of electric wires.

That pic is neat! With the lighting and different colours used in the model’s construction materials, it almost gives the impression of being painted!

The shrine statues add a lot of flavour to the cityscape- there’s so much to look at on them.

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 75.

Another monument is the resin The Moonument from Dunkeldorf Miniatures, which I placed on a pedestal made of plaster elements cast in silicone molds from Rotten Factory.

The Moonument itself is very richly decorated, so I didn't put any extra bits on the pedestal, although there will probably be something else in the recesses.

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 76.

It's time to tackle the channels where I've placed the pieces of the Goblin Town set from Games Workshop cut into smaller pieces.

On the platforms you can see various bits collected over the years, and even more of them will appear in the channels.

Oh wow, that'll add even more versatility to the modules! I always assumed that the moat/canal would be the physical end of the playable area, but those docks will allow miniatures to work their way around as well.

I love that idea. You really seem to have given this project every bit of thought, down to the smallest detail...  8)

Those are going to look great.
I've always wanted to develop, for my 3d printing, a tabletop with lower down parts to water like that with boarded walkways (and basements etc)

That’s epic.   When does the painting start?
