It is really impressive to see the whole table set up like that.  Now Paint Paint Paint!!

Thank you. :)

Tutorial: Building a well, part 1.

As a break from valorizing building models and as an excuse to gain some time to glue the miniatures the Raubritter from the Border Princes, I decided to build three wells.

Wells placed on different bases will be scatter terrain that can be placed, depending on needs, on various modules of the Mordheim ruins table.

For construction, I used elements collected in the workshop: clay bricks, wooden strips, a paper clip, sand, self-hardening clay, balsa wood and copper wire, and for gluing I used wood glue and cyanoacrylate glue.

***

I started building the well by drawing circles on the bases marking the boundary of the well.

For construction, I used clay bricks cut into trapezoids and glued with wood glue.

I filled the gaps between the bricks with self-hardening clay.

No problem. :)

Tutorial: Building a well, part 2.

I decided to cover the ready circles of the well with wooden roofs, which I used appropriately cut wooden pine strips and coffee sticks.

I aged and slightly damaged the cut pine strips 3x5 mm, then drilled them with a hand drill, and in the holes I placed a crank shaft (made from a toothpick and a paper clip) that would pull out a rope of water (made from twisted copper wire) and beams on which I would later place the roof.

Wow, those look nice. What are you going to do with the rest of the base, more stonework?

Fantastic QC, what generous rooves they have to keep the townsfolk dry and out of the sun. They look fantastic!

Air dry clay as a mortar sounds good, it didn't shrink and crack too much?

Cheers
Matt

I added sand and some bits. You can see in the photos below.

No, clay does not shrink, at least not at this quantity. And I protect it against crumbling, just like the entire models, by painting them with diluted wood glue. This also makes it easier to paint them later because the paint does not soak in too quickly.

Tutorial: Building a well, part 3.

The next step was to build the roofs, which I made from wooden slats, coffee sticks and roof tiles cut from balsa wood.

The last step is to glue sand of different weights to the bases and add a few bits.

Oh good to know the clay doesn't shrink and crack at that size. Thanks QC.

They do look good, Ah the round bits are just sprue with a paperclip, nicely done. Brilliant idea.

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 98.

Today I have for you photos of the wells whose construction you could follow on the blog in recent weeks.

The wells, placed on independent stands, can be placed on any modules of the Mordheim ruins table, depending on your needs.

You can read more about building wells in the guide published on the blog HERE and HERE and HERE.

Workshop: Construction of the 'Ruins of Mordheim' modular table, part 99.

Continued work on ruins. This time I equipped the storage module with doors and windows and scattered boards made of coffee sticks.
