Looking good! Are you going to put some portholes/slits in the turrets too?

You need to start making rivets soon, as you're going to need a sh*tload!  lol

I have some dudades I was thinking about putting on the turrets but wasn't sure; couple very smallish portholes on either side and above the gun.

As for rivets..  :o  yep, as soon as I get the guns installed I'll be doing the hull plates and I'll have rivets coming out of my ears.

Ray,
Your creations are usually great and I am not one to critize, but if you have rivets comeing out your ears, I don't think you are doing it right.  If your name is Frankenstein rivets in your neck maybe.

 :o     lol

I was thinking about using pins this time for rivets but to be quite honest I like my "chop up the spears" technique because even though it is a huge pain in the arse to do I like the "a bit too big" effect they give to the model.

I have one side of the ship's sponson guns mounted now and they actually move...  o_o  Am also working on the first forward hull plate with the Eye of Horus on it.  The middle 3 hull plates will have portholes.  I'm still trying to figure out how to handle the back end, probably with a ramp of some sort to disembark stormtroopers.  I'd like the ramp to be able to move as well, I just haven't figured a way of doing it yet.

Yep, but that is a bit in the future.  First to finish my Egyptian Royal Household Cavalry (darn mounted figures take so much time...).

But hopefully within a few days I'll have a real update as I finish up some of the hull plates and folks get a better idea of how it will look... kinda... lots more to come.

 ;)

Ah... we had a bit of spectacular accident at my cafe today.  A big hunk of the apartment building above us feel from the 10th floor, went right through our roof and smashed into the cafe.   Thank God nobody was hurt!  So we'll be closed for the weekend, if not more, and I have the weekend off...  :) ... maybe I'll have time to put in a bit more work... or maybe I'll just drink a bunch of wine like I did tonight!  I'm so, so happy no one was hurt!

Nice work Ray. A very similar idea to the Micro Machine Sand Crawlwers I used for my 15mm Stargate Systemlord army for Alien Squad Leader.  A ramp drops down at the front (or side) to disgorge the troops.

A huge piece of our building fell through the roof of our cafe.   :'(

Luckily no one was hurt.   :)

Looks like I will have some extra time to work on my Landship...  8)

True enough.  We are sooo lucky.

But, it did provide entertainment for hundreds as we were surrounded by cops, firemen and medical people for hours.  It turned out to be quite the event... in retrospect, I should have broken out the beer and had a block party!

 lol

No doubt I'll be back next year :)

I'll be waiting.  :)

So a quick update.  Have now got half of the 12 (5 per side and 2 aft) hull plates done.  Right side is finished and am now moving down the left side.  For those interested, this portion of the ship will require around 350 hand placed and finished rivets.   o_o

Here is a shot from the side:

And from head on:

It's not the greatest thing in the world, but I really like the way it looks and will be working on a way to have a detachable undercarriage so that I can use it both as a landship and and normal ship as well.

The turrets look like little people...  lol
