I've had the Eunuch for ages, bu I never managed to find the right fitting colours. got it stripped and undercoated again at the moment. I might try something similar as yours, because it works well.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.  Im not sure what I will go for next.  I have a couple of other Adventurers around that I would like to paint, but I have some other upcoming gaming things that I really should be working on.  But these fun little RPG type characters are really tempting...

I might try something similar as yours, because it works well.

Go for it if you like it.  Phreedh described it as looking like a "kinky scuba diver" and I agree that there is something Jacques Cousteau/ The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou about that scheme.  It does seem to work well for some the sort of weird, backwoods, high tech savage that sniff around the edges of the RT era 40k universe.

Wonderful paintwork on the high-pitched fella.
Love the little feline too.
 :-* :-*

The little cat was one of the most enjoyable things that I have painted for a while.  Its a great little sculpt :)

I love the old rogue trader style. :-*
These were real metal miniatures,
and not the plastic crap from today.  >:(
Great work.

:D  I like some of the plastic modern era miniatures.  Not all of them, but some of them.  That said, my favourite miniatures to assemble and paint are well cast single piece metal miniatures with a certain old school quality.  Its not all nostalgia for me, its that the detail level gives me good turnaround and keeps my enthusiasm high.

Obviously in that case a big re-issue of Spacelords figures cast by EM4 Doug has a LOT of appeal.  I might have to go and paint my Phagon beastmen this week...

Thanks warburton.  Its a very nice sculpt, great fun to paint.

I have been working on numerous bits and pieces for my 28mm sci-fi projects recently, a bit here and a bit there.  Firstly, I painted an Aquila from the GW Honoured Imperium box for use as holy ground in the Sensei/Highlander games that I have coming up.

Im pleased with how the marble effect worked out on it.  I plan to do the same thing to the statue part of the Honoured Imperium set at a later date.  The Aquila blog post is HERE.

Next up is a Bob Olley sculpted "Futuristic Dwarf Berserker" from Fantastic Miniatures.

These models were produced in the mid 2000s and then went out of production for a while.  After painting this fun sculpt I am going to pick up a few more, as this guy was very pleasant and rewarding to paint.

Arguably the figure should go in my Ursa Miner Space Dwarf thread, but as he is likely to get his debut alongside these guys, I will include him in here for the time being.

The slayer blog post is HERE.

I should really paint some orks next, but exploring the weird underbelly of the 40k universe is proving far more appealing at the moment...

Very nice. Please do paint the orks. I have a lot of RT orks on my own desk at the moment and I could use the inspiration! Also, I got the Space Eunuch in an eBay job lot of space marine RT scouts; I didn't really know what it was until I saw your blog!

Whenever I need a crushing sense of my own inadequacy - I come here and gaze upon these visions. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.  I love the bright colours and the glorious paintwork.

Well done.

Very nice. Please do paint the orks.

I have to have a few of them done before an event in August, so it will happen one way or another.  The colour scheme will match the one shown on my other orks, but this batch will be almost exclusively old Rogue Trader era boyz.

Love the slayer!

Thank you Doctor.

Jesus, generating  feelings if crushing inadequacy isnt really my intention  :o  ;)

Im glad that you like them though.  I enjoy painting bright colours: life is sombre enough as it is without painting drab colour schemes in my free time.

Thanks Mason.  That effect is about 3% me and 97% Bob Olley the legend.  His style is unique and a bit of an acquired taste, but his miniatures are exceptionally enjoyable to paint.

That taste is already well and truly acquired, mate.

My future Ship's Crew is festooned with the man's work.
Sheer genius!

I expected as much ;)

Im still after seven of the seventeen Iron Claw Space Pirates, although the range only really showed up on my radar this year for some odd reason.  I had plans to use other miniatures for my 40k pirate crew up until then, but knowing that there was an Olley range kinda settled it for me.  Ill get my 17th century styled space pirate kicks from my orks instead.

So, y'know, if your ships crew ends up with any spares of those guys then get your Astropath talking to my Astropath...

Got 'em all, mate.
No spares, though, I am afraid.

Should I see any I will send a flicker through the warp.
 ;)

That left-most dwarf looks like a lot of fun.
It's nothing, sir. Just a burn from a ray gun.

He is one of the more cheerful models that I own for sure :)  Its a subscription only White Dwarf model that I picked up on Ebay a couple of years ago.  Its a very nicely sculpted and cast model, and it was a lot of fun to paint.

Thanks PF.  The marble did work out well.

I tried the marble effect again on the statue from the same Honoured Imperium.  It didnt work quite as well on the statue as it did on the Aquila I think, but its still easily good enough for what I want it for.  The bronze areas help to break it up in an interesting way too.
