That's great, interested in seeing a how to guide on painting marble.  :D

Thanks folks :)

That's great, interested in seeing a how to guide on painting marble.  :D

The effect was based on a technique shown on Terragenesis, but I modified the process in a few ways. This is what I did:

Spray black
Drybrush a dark green (I used GW Orkhide Shade)
Drybrush edges a mid green (very old GW Snot Green)
Stipple everything with a light grey (Model Colour Light Grey). I used a folded over, cut up piece of pot scrubber to stipple on the paint to try to get a nice random pattern. At this stage it will look like you have ruined the model, but you have to have faith that the following steps will deaden the horrible, bird shit look that the piece will have now.
Stipple with a dark grey (GW Mechanicum Standard Grey)
Stipple with mid green (GW Snot Green)
Paint wobbly veins in thinned light grey (Model Colour Light Grey)
Paint some parts of the veins with a light grey/white mix.
Glaze the whole thing with a green (I used old GW Green Glaze)
Paint a little bit of the grey/white mix into the veins again.
Shade recesses with a dark wash (I painted Army Painter Dark tone into the gaps)
Gloss varnish

Looking at that list it appears complicated, but it isnt, its just methodical. None of the steps are difficult in themselves. I hope that you try it commissarmoody.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks, I have a knight titan that I have been wanting to paint up. And once I get to it, I will attempted this technique.

Oooh, thats a great idea.  Im going to have to seriously consider doing exactly that too.  Im just looking for an excuse to fire money that I dont have at one of those kits.

Here's one I use very often: "It'll happen eventually, I can just as well buy it right away."

Did I compliment you on the monuments btw? They're very nice and I'm especially impressed with the verdigris. Looks convincing!

Monuments look great, really nice. I painted mine recently- not quite as snazzy  ;)

I do the thing where I buy my own birthday presents and give them to my wife who then disseminates them to the handful of people who give me things on my birthday.  It allows me to scratch some of that retail itch  ::)

Thanks.  The verdigris is extremely simple.  The areas are based with a mid brown (GW Calthan IIRC), then a coat of a copper, then a wash of Army Painter Dark Tone, then a drybrush of a lighter bronze, then a liberal coat of GW Nihilakh Oxide which I mostly wip off with my thumb.  Thats it, nothing fancy.  Excellent return on time invested.

Thanks. The Honoured Imperium is a cool set of miniatures.  Im am certain that the Dr Mathias "not quite as snazzy" is still pretty  decent :)

REALLY beautiful, though I'd never say 'nice', work all around!  lol

I've some old figural chess pieces at the store should anyone want to make tabletop statuary out of them. Printing your steps out as suggestions should anyone step up.

Thanks!

I decided to paint this little guy while taking a break from the terrain that I have been working on since the start of the year.  I could probably have put him in my space treepeople thread, but I thought that I would include it here as its equally appropriate.

The little furry guy is from Bombshell Miniatures.  Its a particularly clean, crisp and nicely sculpted model, I recommend it.

Before Xmas I painted a couple of entries for the Future Wars Painting club.  They are both models intended for this project, so I decided to put them up here now too.  First is another gyrinx, this time a cyborg called G.I.N.G.E.R...

...and next this Space Skeleton.

Further details on each of the three models are in the links to the appropriate blog posts.

Great additions and painting, love 'em all  :-*

Regarding the Raccoon/Wombat.
Is there any european traer who sells him?
Checked Battlefield Berlin, but allthough they are selling Bombshell-minis they strangely don't sell him  :?
