Not seen those brains before - wonderfully weird and beautifully painted.

And thanks for the very kinds words about 7TV. That's exactly what we were going for :)

Thanks!  The models are so unique that I probably spent a little more time painting them than I usually would.  Painting oddball things is a lot more rewarding than painting yet another Space Marine for example.

You can tell.  The love of the genre and the hobby is evident in everything about the rulebooks.  In fact its the only rulebook that my non-gamer, architect and graphic designer buddies have ever picked up and looked through, which says something about the design aesthetic if nothing else.  A treat to read.

I have some Crooked Dice miniatures lined up for inclusion in some of the associated factions (fem-bot = necron infiltrators/flayed ones, robo-rodent = scarab, that sort of thing) but its the rules set that I am using in the main.  Inquisitor stories are James Bond stories and 7TV is the way to play those out I reckon.

Do let us know how the games go.

I will, but this is a bit of a slow burn project due to conflicting schedules, so the gaming side may not even happen this side of Xmas.  The 7TV reference in the thread title might seem a bit tenuous at the moment, but I have plans to fit most of the models shown here and in other associated projects into 7TV archetypes and scenarios.  Once I have those ironed out a bit more clearly I plan to post that info here too, alongside some in-game shots.

So the short version is that I will let you know how the games go, but just not for a while yet :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Last week I got some Inquisitorial 7TV games played using some of these miniatures, as had been long term planned.  Other miniatures that I have been painting for the last couple of years also featured, my Alien Brains and my Ursa Miner Space Dwarfs in particular.

The games also used a lot of the terrain pieces that I have finished off relatively recently too.  Its all genuine gaming scenery, not like some of the beautiful architectural model level stuff that you occasionally see around here.  But its functional if occasionally a bit gaudy (like me) and it helped to generate some fun games.  Its satisfying to see work that I have done on and off for a few years all finally come to fruition in one game/series of games :)

Creative writing isnt really my thing, but inspired as I was by the brilliant scene setting scripts in the various 7TV rulebooks I did throw together a small bit of script as an intro for each of the four scenarios.  My opponent appreciated the effort and they did help to set the tone, but Nobel literature prize winners they are not.  Forewarned is forearmed etc.

Do let us know how the games go.

Quick question, in case I forget: What are those round buildings (black with white roof) made from?
I feel that i should be able to recognise the original source... ???

EDIT: they are 1:32 bio gas installation tanks manufactured by Globe toys.

The three buildings (dark green with silver/grey roof) are toy farm buildings, silos of some sort.  I have plans to stencil a few Weyland-Yutani or Blue Sun or whatever logos on them at some point to sci fi them up a bit, but they had to do as-is this time around.  I like that they look quite generic, although they probably look hilariously un-futuristic to farmers.

The terrain on that table was the weakest, but including an industrial table varied things nicely.  But it probably looked as good as a Blakes 7 or Doctor Who set all the same ;)

I saw the tanks for sale in a local (rural) toy shop and they immediately looked like practical chunky sci-fi terrain to me.  I do need to do a little set dressing to them though.

Other than the slightly out of scale steps the tanks are rugged items (as you might expect of farm toys for young kids).  The out of scale steps can just about accommodate 25mm circular bases too, which is convenient.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys.  It was a satisfying gaming session for many reasons.

The next RT themed gaming session might include a more radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor than Verhoeven that I have base coated ready to start working properly on, but having watched (and surprisingly actually enjoyed) Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters last night I am tempted to paint some puritan Ordo Hereticus Witch Hunter types next.  Wide brimmed hats, leather jerkins, thigh high boots, hideously mutilated guys with flamethrower arms/hats, walking dot matrix printer people, space nuns (including nunja), that sort of thing.

It could just as easily be some Imperial fleet guys though, or maybe some pirates.  Far too many options, you know how it is :)

Re: Cheetors 28mm Inquisitor Skirmish: Inquisitor Jodorowsky 17/05/14

So, its been a while since I updated this thread, but I have been doing work on elements that fit in with it fairly constantly since.  The Alien Brains and the Alien Flora and Fauna project (including spaaaace jungle) both spun directly out of this project, although they are recorded elsewhere.  The emphasis in terms of rules has shifted to Pulp Alley for now too (with some batreps here).

Despite all of this, I think that this thread is still a good place to include the various characters that I add to my Inquisitorial warbands, so I will keep doing that.

So the next part of the project will shift a little from the Ordo Xenos to the Ordo Hereticus (Witch Hunters), for a while at least.  Starting that off is Inquisitor Jodorowsky:

The colour scheme is inspired by a character in the pretty surreal 1970s movie "The Holy Mountain".  The director of that movie (Alejandro Jodorowsky) is also where the character got its name.  It ties in with Inquisitor Verhoeven nicely that way too, both being film directors.

Having painted a lot of pulp aliens for games involving the Ordo Xenos, the entourage that I plan for Jodorowsky will be more futuristic dark age: nuns with guns, flagellating maniacs from the Segmentum Obscurus, Space Eunuchs, the usual goofy, older style 40k stuff :)

So I will put some more of those up here as they get done.  In the meantime the blog post about Inquisitor Jodorowsky which features some more photos is HERE.

Comments and criticisms all encouraged as usual :)
