I've been rather busy of late with only time for fairly useless postings and no contributions. This is about to change  :D

I think most people on here know that I rather like the Japanese and have a small Japanese force at the moment (currently somewhere on Atlantis at the last report  ;) )

Now, when I first joined the forum I had it in mind to have a Martian Japanese force, and now I've started it. Small pickings for now but it will be expanded on.

Below we have the commanding officer of the small but growing Japanese garrison on Mars, General Bandai

And then we have the first in a new line of walker, the RX-78 (still needs a bit done to it but the light's going so I needed to take photos now)

And a comparison shot to give an idea of how big these buggers are going to be  :D

There is a bit of fluff for the walker. This model is armed with a lightning cannon that can either use a bolt of electricity or it can be 'punched' into the metal (or indeed, flesh) target and a slightly more powerful bolt can be applied. There is also a manipulator arm and it has a crew of two (if a bit cramped), it can also travel for short lengths of time under water and is completely water tight. Experiments are under way to see if the RX-78 is aether worthy. New preambulation technology means that larger and more complex suits have been developed and there is less need for 'direct' control from the crew.

I've got two more 78's to do and about three units of infantry, then I'll get onto the exciting bits  ;) :D ;D

cheers

James

Looks great, James! :)

But I can't help to wish for some VSF take on the classical Japanese Mechas ;) I bet that you can come up with something jaw dropping!

Thats no way to describe the wife  ;D ;D

I like the walker but the way the officer has traversed the Yellow Sea with your paintwork is brilliant

Very nice indeed. Spectacular painting on the General.

The Atlantis campaign has suddenly flickered into something that resembles life at least, so perhaps your force in the North West might like some re-inforcements? There are some pesky foreign devils that are threating the Emperor's interests that might need a taste of lighting-cannon...

lol

I'm pretty sure no man in his right mind would consider women in general, and them-who-must-be-obeyed in particular a "small force", rather than "a force of nature".

@Topic: Rather splendid. I assume they are still "work in progress"? If so, will you render the bases more "reddish" to go with the general conception of the "Red Planet"?

Thanks for the comments chaps and Svennn, she's certainly smaller than me but I wouldn't mess with her  ;D

@ Chris. The walker was work in progress, I now have two done. Regarding the base colour, I didn't go for a deep red as it would be good to be able to use them on Earth if needs be, I thought the inclusion of a little red weed here and there might do  :)

@ Silversixx, I'm working my way up to that  ;)  ;)

@ Red Orc, Possibly, but I've got other plans for the Atlantis force  :D

A few more photos, first, one of General Bandai with a slightly less glossy coat

And now the two walkers, RX-78 01 and RX-78 02

The second one has a rapid firing machine gun and a normal manipulation arm.

Thanks again for looking

cheers

James
